and Those vents do point downward, but only slightly. There's so much room for airflow, and so little directionality provided by their shape that it appears Audi was not very concerned with the backpressure. Maybe the volume of air coming through those (and mine) is sufficient to overcome the backpressure created by the spinning tire.(?) I don't have any way to measure/test the change in intake temps, but I'll report whether I notice a seat-of-the-pants difference.
